Paragliding From Merriam Crater

by Adam B
(Merriam Crater near Flagstaff, AZ)

Obsessing on Merriam Crater in AZ

Obsessing on Merriam Crater in AZ

Me launching off Merriam, a popular paragliding spot near Flagstaff, Arizona U.S.A. Merriam is an extinct volcano with it's top launch at about 1100 feet AGL and a lower bench launch only 500 feet AGL. A great site to fly if ever you get the chance.

Ridge flying memories
by: Tim P.

Thanks Adam for that fine ridge-soaring shot! Takes me back to gliding up and down Lochiel ridge in S.A. (South Australia) in older sailplanes and later doing the same in a Mars 170 hang glider. It's a similar light-brown almost featureless look as most of the mid-north in S.A. during summer. As a kid I was also known to go out ridge-soaring free-flight models on any handy bump in the landscape!
